Liquihard Slip Resistance prevents dusting, pitting, and staining of concrete

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS LIQUI-HARD ?

Liqui-hard is a concrete densifier and chemical hardener compound that is a ready-to-use, colorless liquid, consisting of reactive chemicals that deeply penetrate the surface of concrete. Liqui-hard is specifically designed to produce hardened, dust-proofed and improved chemically resistant surfaces wherever it is applied. Through a chemical reaction process, Liqui-hard penetrates through the concrete and chemically solidifies the components into a homogeneous concrete mass. Besides its densifying and hardening action, Liqui-hard solidifies the concrete, eliminating dusting, rotting, and pitting.

IS LIQUI-HARD A COATING ?

No.  Liqui-hard is a penetrating product consisting of active chemicals that deeply penetrate the surface of concrete. The chemical reaction process of Liqui-hard penetrates progressively through the concrete and chemically solidifies all the component parts into a homogeneous concrete mass leaving no film or coating. This process permanently increases the density and longevity of the entire concrete surface.

WHERE CAN LIQUI-HARD BE USED ?

Liqui-hard is recommended for use wherever hardening, dust proofing, and improved chemically resistant surfaces are required. Ideal applications include floors in industrial plants and warehouses, storage silos, sewage plants, chemical processing facilities, refineries, automotive facilities, parking garages, machine shops, food facilities, and heavy pedestrian floor traffic areas such as civic centers, sports arenas, stadiums, hospitals, airports and museums.  Liqui-hard can successfully be used in conjunction with shake-on hardeners.

IS LIQUI-HARD VOC COMPLIANT ?

Yes. Liqui-hard meets the maximum voc contents of 400 g/l for concrete protective coatings as required by the United States environmental protection agency architectural coatings rule. Liqui-hard is water based, non-toxic, and non-flammable and actually has a voc content of 0 g/l.

WHEN CAN I START USING THE FLOOR AFTER APPLICATION?

As soon as concrete surface is dry you may start using the floor.

WHEN WILL LIQUI-HARD HARDEN AND DUSTPROOF THE CONCRETE ?

The hardening, dust proofing process starts the minute you apply liqui-hard to the surface of the concrete. As the material penetrates into the surface and the chemical reaction starts you are already on your way to a hardened, densified, dust proofed floor. This process will continue for several months.

WHEN WILL A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR DEVELOP A SHEEN ?

Generally a Liqui-hard floor develops sheen over time. The amount of cleaning, scrubbing, traffic, and use will facilitate and increase the sheen quicker. There are methods to increase or develop a sheen quicker using mechanical means.

WHEN WILL A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR BECOME SEALED ?

The sealing process begins as the Liqui-hard is being applied. The chemical reaction will continue for several months. During this time, spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent staining.

IS A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR PERMANENT ?

Yes, you will never need to recoat a Liqui-hard floor. The Liqui-hard floor will become better with age.

CAN A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR BE PAINTED OR STRIPED ?

Yes. Many parking garages and industrial floors require painting and paint stripes. A Liqui-hard floor is not a coating and leaves the surface free of films that can block adhesion of paints. As long as paint is approved for concrete, the Liqui-hard floor may be painted or striped. Contact paint manufacturer to confirm compatibility with concrete surfaces.

WILL A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR BE SLIPPERY ?

Since Liqui-hard penetrates the surface and does not leave a film or coating, the floor's resistance to slip is unchanged from the original non-Liqui-hard concrete.

CAN LIQUI-HARD BE USED FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATIONS ?

Yes, Liqui-hard improves resistance to rain, sun, freezing temperatures and pool chemicals. Please refer to application instructions for hot and cold temperature uses.

CAN LIQUI-HARD BE USED ON COLORED CONCRETE ?

Yes. Colored concrete must be fully cured a minimum of 28 days before the application of Liqui-hard. Color in the concrete must be added to the entire mix.

CAN LIQUI-HARD BE USED ON ACID STAINED CONCRETE ?

Yes. The acid stain must be completely neutralized prior to the application of Liqui-hard.

IS MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION REQUIRED ?

No. One application is sufficient to provide the desired results of hardness, densification, dust proofing, curing, and sealing. A second coat may be applied to facilitate a faster sheen if desired or on extremely porous concrete.

WILL LIQUI-HARD LEAVE WHITE DEPOSITS ON THE CONCRETE SURFACE ?

A properly applied and installed Liqui-hard floor will leave no film or residue on the surface that will turn white or leave crystals. Liqui-hard contains special additives to aid in the flushing process to help prevent material from remaining on the surface. Complete removal of excess material is crucial; thoroughly flush surface of concrete with water.

WILL LIQUI-HARD IN A LIQUID STATE FREEZE ?

Yes.  If product has been frozen, properly thaw and mix before applying. A minimum product temperature of 35 degrees F (2 degrees C) must be obtained before application.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF THE CONCRETE THAT LIQUI-HARD CAN BE APPLIED?

135 degrees F (57 degrees C)

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF THE CONCRETE THAT I CAN APPLY LIQUI-HARD ?

35 degrees F, (2 degrees C)

WHAT IS THE PH OF LIQUI-HARD ?

Ph 11.0 typical

CAN LIQUI-HARD BE APPLIED TO CONCRETE CONTAINING SYNTHETIC OR STEEL FIBRES ?

Yes.

HOW SHOULD A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR BE MAINTAINED ?

A regular cleaning regimen should be utilized for best results. Cleaning and scrubbing will enhance and increase the surface sheen faster. During the

Sealing process it is beneficial to clean on a regular basis (two times per week) to prevent contaminants from staining or discoloring the floor.

WHAT TYPE OF DETERGENT SHOULD I USE TO CLEAN A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR ?

Any commercially available, non-acidic, mild cleaning detergent. Detergent should not contain any sulfites, hydroxides, or acids.

WILL  LIQUI-HARD CHANGE THE APPEARANCE OF A  CONCRETE SURFACE ?

Once treated, the concrete slab will continue to develop sheen when exposed to traffic, use, and scrubbing.

HOW CAN I REMOVE TYRE MARKS FROM A LIQUI-HARD FLOOR ?

A Liqui-hard floor is resistant to tire marks due to the surface densification and absence of a film or coating that may burn or melt from tire traffic. Tyre marks can easily be removed with a mild detergent or degreaser.

CAN LIQUI-HARD BE USED ON OLD OR EXISTING CONCRETE?

Yes.

WHAT IS THE DRYING TIME OF LIQUI-HARD ?

2 to 4 hours on new concrete. May be extended on existing concrete due to surface conditions.

HOW LONG HAS W.R. MEADOWS BEEN IN BUSINESS ?
